Self-publishing your book can be a steep learning curve. Looking for someone to help you make the summit? Look no further! With the self-publishing package, I'll act as your publishing manager and guide you to publication start to finish. Review what's included below, and then contact me for a custom quote.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
COPY EDITING
The first service included is copy editing, with optional line editing. (Where copy editing addresses clarity and correctness, line editing addresses style and substance. For more info on what's included in these edits, click here.) To purchase the self-publishing package, your book must have first completed content editing, whether with me or another editor. If I do your content editing, that is booked separately from the package.

RATE: 2.5 - 3.5 cents/word
PROOFREADING
Proofreading is the final polish to get your book ready for publication. This round happens after the book has been typeset and includes a check of all text and design elements in the print pdf document. I subcontract this round of editing out to another trusted editor. Once I've copy edited a manuscript, I can't bring "fresh eyes." Having another set of eyes on your writing is a benefit to us both!

RATE: 1.5 cent/word
(Rate may vary based on subcontracting editor)
BOOK PAGE LAYOUT & DESIGN
In addition to editing, I offer professional typesetting services using Adobe InDesign. Typesetting includes manually finessing the text to address issues like character spacing, paragraph and page breaks, image or illustration placement and text wrap, widows and orphans, and more. I provide print-ready files to give to your printer or upload to your print-on-demand platform of choice, as well as the native application source files.

RATES:
(Rates are based on finished typeset manuscript page count, not Word document. A "manuscript page" is 250 words.)

Standard Design: $3.00 per page
(includes customization of fonts and page elements)

Complex Page Layout: $4.00 per page
(has additional layout elements like footnotes, bulleted lists, sidebars, bibliographies, or other special features)

Custom Graphics Book: $5.00 per page
(image heavy book requiring page-by-page design)
PUBLISHING PROJECT MANAGEMENT

ADDITIONAL SERVICES (OPTIONAL)
COVER DESIGN
I have the benefit of being married to a graphic designer. He and I collaborate on cover design for clients interested in adding this to their package. Cover design includes two initial design concepts and two rounds of revisions on the chosen cover. You'll get a high-resolution graphic of your front cover, spine, and back cover to give to your printer, as well as the native application source files.

Fee: $350-450

I reserve the right to subcontract cover design to another designer. In that case, rate may vary.
MARKETING COPY
Professional marketing copy makes your book more sellable. Let me help you hook your reader by writing your back cover blurb, bio, and sale page summary.

EBOOK CONVERSION
Want to reach more readers? I can help you go digital by converting your manuscript to a reflowable ePub file (suitable for text books without images or complex elements) for upload to the platform of your choice.
